As much as the term marriage is sweet to hear, it is even more difficult to maintain it. Marriage is a legal union with full of commitment and responsibility.
Marriage is a beautiful union with lots of excitement and a little bit of nervousness. It is very easy to marry but it’s very hard to sustain it and complete a life journey together.
There are certain expectations from their partner and family in marriage so that there arises problems when such expectations are not fulfill as they expected.
A country like Nepal where a relation has significant value and the whole family live together has even more responsibility to a wife and a husband after marriage.
Parents from son expect their daughter-in-law to be cultural and hardworking.
They want respect from her and expect her to run the family very well whereas, parents from daughter side expect their son-in-law be well mannered, have a good earning and love their daughter infinitely.
Similarly a husband expects his wife to be cultural and the one who respects him and his family. I didn’t mention about love because it is very common in everyone. Everyone wants to be loved by their spouse, right?
In the same way, a wife expects love, respect and care from her husband and his family.
Though Nepal is progressing in many sectors, men and women are equally treated in the society but still there is a lot of gap in gender equality and Nepal is still a male dominated society.
That’s why when a girl is married to a boy, everyone expects her to do the household chores and cares for the family and they expect a man to earn solely to feed his family.
As the era is changing, women also want to participate in outside business and follow her dream. They don’t want to be limited only in household chores and want to be independent and support her family financially.
They expect their husband to help them in household chores and fortunately men are happy about it. As like that a husband expects her wife to be faithful and support him to follow his dreams.
There are a lot of expectations like these in marriage and if they meet such expectations and resolve conflicts whenever necessary then a family will be happy and prosperous.
